Museum of Archeology - Located at 18 rue Voltaire, this museum has an amazing collection of ancient manuscripts; alabasters; pottery (precious and local) from prehistory to the Renaissance; crafts; and jewellery. The Dukes of Brittany Castle - Built alongside the Loire Nantes' Castle is both a residential palace and a military defensive fortress. The Castle is a municipal museum.
The Feydeau Island - Found in the centre of Nantes, the island's amazing 18th-century residences, decorated with 'mascarons' and wrought- iron balconies, testify to the richness of the Nantes ship owners in those days of trade with the Americas.
The St Pierre and St Paul Cathedral - The building of the St-Pierre and St-Paul Cathedral began in 1434. In the 19th century, it was finally finished, 457 years later. Inside are the tombs of Francois II; last Duke of Brittany; and Marguerite de Foix, his second wife. The marbles were sculpted by Michel Colomb and completed y 1507.
